I'M BACK!  Please forgive my absence, but I've been dealing with a combination of personal, professional and health related issues!  I'm not going to get into any details, but rest assured I am fine and back to blog!


As you all know, I'm a weekend Top Chef and I get down in the kitchen like Chef Tom Colicchio, Padma Lakshmi, and Gail Simmons combined on Sunday nights. This weekend, it was cold, rainy, and gross so I decided to make a rich hearty soup to warm my bones.


The circumstances called for an asopao, which is a thick Puerto Rican soupy rice dish similar to creole gumbo.  I had some salchichon (Dominican salami) and jamon de cocinar (Cooking ham) available and decided to use Sabor Con Love's viral recipe to prepare a delicious meal.
