Alexis Nikole Nelson/BlackForager is amazing!

Sofrito Lovers,

Ohio native Alexis Nikole Nelson, AKA BlackForager, is a remarkable source of foraging-related information online, and a hilariously entertaining foodie.

This self-proclaimed, "filthy vegan" has saturated all social media platforms with her foraging knowledge, recipes, and extensive sociopolitical analysis on food history.  She's entertaining, educational, inspirational, and thought-provoking.

Did you know that there are plants growing in your neighborhood that are edible?  And, that they could be used for savory and sweet fare?  Neither did I, until I watched BlackForager's TikToks, YouTube content, and Instagram.  Her content is fascinating, and will have you wondering if those interesting looking plants and herbs around you could be a culinary treasure in-disguise.

Today, I highlight her because of her mission to educate us all on the racist history behind trespass laws and how they specifically targeted freed slaves to rebind them to the plantations.  Take a moment and watch her videos posted below and learn about this little-known history.

Go taste for yourself!  ¬°Buen Provecho!
